Hot Toys knows how to bring figures to life and The Mandalorian and The Child deluxe figure set is no exception! This meticulously detailed 1/6 scale figure brings home all of the feels when Mando first discovers The Child and the packout for this set is one of the best! Based on the appearance of the fearless Mandalorian in his new beskar armor, the highly-accurate figure set features the bounty hunter with meticulously crafted helmet and armor pieces, interchangeable right shoulder armor with Mudhorn signet, skillfully tailored outfit, an attachable jetpack, a blaster rifle and pistol, flamethrower effect, a tracking fob and a desert-themed figure base. Figure Details

Mando looks stunning in his beskar armor and the fits and finishes on the figure are spectacular. In Hot Toys fashion, he comes with a dark charcoal gray soft goods flight suit that is under his armor and a soft goods cape. The cape drapes around the side of Mando’s right shoulder, which is an accurate representation of how he wears his cape in the show.

His helmet is highly detailed, weathered, and pitted to give it a real steel look to it and the face shield is a glossy black that catches and reflects the light. The back of the helmet features a bronze look in the ridges close to the neck.

His chest armor is has the same weathered and pitted look and there is a brown leather looking bandolier that holds ammo. If you look under the cape, you can also see armor in the back and more of the bandolier and belt detail.

His holster can fit his blaster and you can even tuck in a leather strap over it to secure it in place. He also has two detonators that are sculpted on to his belt, which has a slot for a removable piece that he can hold in this hand.

The gauntlets are highly detailed on removable and the left side has a removable section that you can swpa

The armor on the right thigh looks like a melted piece of metal that has a nice sheen to it. The left thigh armor is the same weathered beskar look as the rest of the armor.

The boots are nicely done and very highly detailed and even come with ammo in them. The weathering on the boots are great as they look filthy and very realistic!

The Child

Grogu, as we became to know him in Season 2, comes with his signature outfit, which is plastic but the way it was made looks like real clothing. His facial expression is more subdued and curious and his fingers are separated so you can make it look like he is reaching out for Mando.

Hover Pram

There is another version of the child that has a happy expression with his ears perked up and is magnetically held in the Hover Pram. The version of Grogu that fits in the front of the Hover Pram is only 1/2 of a figure but you can swap the heads between the two figures. This device was a hovering device used for shielding younglings, providing protection and coasting peacefully. The device was a valuable tool for guardians with children too young to protect themselves. It also comes with a blanked that you can use to out over The Child or you can fold it up, lye him down and use it like a pillow.

The Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin found Grogu inside a pram on Arvala-7. When Grogu was attacked, first by bounty hunters and later by a Mudhorn, Djarin was able to move the pram remotely to protect him. Djarin continued to use it to transport Grogu until handing him over to the Client. When Djarin returned to rescue Grogu, he found the capsule discarded in a dumpster. The Hover Pram comes with a shield that you can place on it to simulate the closed look. As seen in the first couple of episodes of The Mandalorian, it’s an odd piece to include with Beskar Mando because he was not scene in shiny silver armor in the first couple of episodes. The piece does have a nice weathered effect with orange and steel accents.

Weapons and Accessories

For a weapons packout, he come with a blaster rifle with attachable scope, blaster pistol, dagger, and wired grappling hook. As far as accessories go, he is packed to the nines! He also comes with a Camtono with LED light-up function, a stack of Beskar (can be placed in the camtono), whistling birds firing effects (attachable to left gauntlet), hologram of The Mandalorian armor, magnetically attachable silver jetpack with two real-like thruster fire accessories, flamethrower effect accessory, tracking fob, a piece of Beskar, and specially designed dynamic figure stand with Star Wars logo and character nameplate.

First up is the very tiny Mythosaur necklace that you can place around The Child’s neck but you will need to remove the head to put it on!

He also comes with a snap on light that you can swap on and off the helmet, as Mando uses this periodically in the series to locate things in the dark.

The swappable shoulder armor with the Mudhorn signet is a nice touch and if have The Armorer, you can recreate the scene where she welds his signet on to his armor. The signet is a lighter silver than the rest of the armor, which makes it stand out.

Mando does comes with several effects and attachments you can use to change up how he looks. For example, the Whistling Birds with a smoke effect piece has subtle chrome effects on within the smoke to make it look like they are firing out of the smoke trails. He also comes with an activated state of the Whistling Birds that attach to his guantlet. The final effect is a nicely sculpted flame that slips under his gauntlet that looks like real fire!

The grappling hook is a nice piece and the line is made of metal but this piece is shared with Batman figures but it’s a cool effect to make it look like he is trying to grapple something.

Mando also comes with a Vibroblade, which you can see him whip out in self-defense. Vibroblades are bladed weapons that use ultrasonic vibrations that substantially increase their efficiency in battle. It has weathering and paint that is stripped off the handle to give it a more battle worn look. There is no place to store on this figure so you will have to either store it in your accessory bin or put it in his hand. The tracking fob that Mando uses to hunt down the Child is also included and is a cool piece that is movie accurate.

The Amban phase-pulse blaster, also known as an Amban sniper rifle, was a type of disruptor sniper rifle used by the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin. The weapon was capable of electrocuting opponents as well as completely disintegrating targets. Djarin used the deadly weapon to great effect during his bounty hunting career. This piece has some really nice fits and finishes and the scope is removable, like the movie, and you can lift of the chamber to load ammo into it.

Mando’s blaster has a very steampunk feel to it and it looks like real metal! The ridges, groves, and the appearance of a wooden handle really make this a nice piece that you can holster on his belt.

The jetpack is stunning in both design and paint app! The piece is entirely magnetic and and fits on Mando really well! There is a subtle weathering and pitting effects and even the thrusters have some heat treatment to show that they do get hot. The jetpack comes with two blast effects, that are the same as in the Return of the Jedi Boba Fett, that simply insert into the bottom of the jet pack.

The figure base is cool and it hides a very neat feature in the hunk of sand and rocks on the right side of the base. This is the piece that you use to attach The Child in his Hover Pram to the display base. You just remove the center rock and insert the clear rod into the base! What a great hidden feature as we were scratching our heads for a bit as it’s not that obvious! The display base also comes with a grabber arm so you can pose Mando in flight.

Mando also comes with with a holographic version of Beskar Mando, which is an odd accessory but the the one that is the best of out of the lot, in our opinion, is the Camtono with the stack of beskar! The Camtono can be opened up as the three sides are on a hinge joint so you can reveal the contents inside.

First seen in the movie, The Empire Strikes Back, you can see a person running down the hall with this device, which was actually an ice cream maker in real life. Anything of value is store in Camtono’s, like crystals or beskar, in the Star Wars Universe!

Camtono

The Camtono was a cylindrical box consisting of a fixed frame, three movable panels hinged at the bottom and locked shut at the top, and a “lid” part. That lid boasted control buttons and a rotary cylindric piece featuring a handle. Buttons disengaged the locks, causing the side panels to fall open and thus granting access to the contents. This piece comes with 3 small batteries that are hidden by the control panel, which you can remove to reveal the battery compartment and the switch to create a very cool lighting effect on the stack of beskar that can be pressure fit into the Camtono.

Ways to Display

There are tons of possibilities to display Mando with The Child and my favorite is to create a scene where the child is staring at the beskar that is set off by the light of the Camtono.

Awe!!! Aren’t they cute together! The Child as small enough to be held in Mando’s arms and he can even bring him in for a proper hug.

His blast effect and rifle make great choices for posing but there are literally hundreds of ways to display this figure!
