8 Simply Perfect Mother Daughter Activities To Do Not Just On Mother’s Day (2024)

*I was compensated by Roses Only for this Mother Daughter Activities article. But my thoughts and opinions here are all my own.

It was one simple picture. I needed them to pose after we worked on a fun blog article idea together. The actual blog activity went so much easier than this one simple image. Stay tuned for that one coming to my blog in the next week or so.

But back to the issue at hand. See when my girls were younger, they were actually easier to get pictures of them together.

But at ages 7 and 8, it was literal torture trying to get my girl to sit still for me to take one picture of them.

I am not going to lie I was frustrated in the moment. But then, it dawned on me to just go with their silliness. I couldn’t help, but smile and giggle right along with them. Which, of course, only made them crack up further.

By the end, we were three laughing messes. But we had fun getting there.

And then, later on I worked on photo editing. When I came to some of the outtakes where my two were at their most silly, I couldn’t help chuckle out loud.

It was in that moment that I realized every day for me is Mother’s Day. See it’s not just about the flowers and the picture perfect moments.

But even in the craziest moments, I am forever grateful to be the mom to these two perfectly, silly girls.

Because they are all mine. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Don’t get me wrong, flowers and roses are awesome, too. Nor, will I ever pass them up.

1. Watch a movie together.

You can go to the movies or watch an old movie in the comfort of your own home. Either way, it is the act of sharing the time, as well as the actual story line of the movie together. This shared experience is key. I happen to be a big fan of watching movies that my girls enjoy now, plus introducing them to some of my own favorites. Like in the past we shared the live version of Grease and then we also watched the original, which just so happens to be still one of my favorites. So, getting to not only watch something that my girls enjoy to get a better understanding of their likes. But also sharing my own likes with them is a fun way to spend time together.

2. Get a Mani/Pedi.

As far back as I can recall, I loved getting my nails done. When I was younger, I begged my mom to do my nails for me. Nowadays, I have two girls here for the price of one. And they love getting their nails and toenails done. So, I love sharing this fun time together with them. Because not only do I still enjoy this. But now my girls do, as well. So, perfect shared time spent.

3. Read books together.

This one is a no brainer as I am raising two girls, who love to read. See not only does their mom love to read. But so do my girls. They are now old enough to read quietly to themselves. Yet, I still love when they read to me. And they also still ask me sometimes to read to them. Plus there are times, where we can be relaxing on my bed or on the couch together while we are all reading different books quietly. Any which way, we are still spending quality time together.

4. Snuggle time for one and for all.

Let’s face it, there are just times when we are just happy doing nothing. But still doing nothing together snuggled up under the blankets cuddling and snuggling. I am so thankful to have two very lovable and huggable girls for times just like this.

5. Give back and volunteer.

Because I do want my girls to be kind and giving, as well as spend time together. A wonderful way to accomplish both is volunteer together. This can be at an animal shelter, visit a nursing home or more. The key is to give back, spend time together while doing so.

6. Girls just want to shop.

Another thing, I have always enjoyed is shopping. And guess who? So do my girls now. So, I happily will spend time together enjoying a bit of retail therapy with my two favorite girls!

7. DIY or cook together.

As one can clearly see from my blog, I quite enjoy being crafty often enough. Plus, I also love to try new recipes out, especially family friendly ones. So love having my two girls help with the crafting, as well with my cooking, too.

8. Just have fun being with each other!

Number eight is a no brainer. After how I began this article, I can honestly say that just being with my girls quite often is all I need. We don’t have to be doing anything special. But just hanging out together as much as possible is quite simply perfect.

There you have it with eight very easy mother daughter activities that all moms and daughters can do together any day of the week!

**Also linking up with Kristi and Kenya for Finish the Sentence Friday, where the sentence for the week was to share a photo and story behind it.
